I know that I am a bit behind, but I am participating in the Bout of Books readathon. Sadly my first day I did not get any reading done. I have really no excuse as to why I did not read. I was not working that day. I had the whole entire day to read. I just did not feel like reading. I will be honest, and admit that I was not feeling well, but that usually does not affect my mood in reading. I am just a little burnt out from last year with all the last minute reading that I did to make sure that I was able to get to my goal of 150 books.
I will also admit here that day two was the same as day one. I did not get any reading done.
As for the challenges for day one. I actually forgot that Bout of Books was happening until I receive the Twitter update. By then, I was out of the house helping my mom shop and get items for this weekend’s event. By the time we got home, it was a little late and all I wanted to do was to get to bed and sleep.
Hopefully, day three will be better. Technically I am not working in the morning so I could read for a few hours. Since I did borrow a lot of books from the library, I do want to read those books first. My plan is to read The Ms. Marvel comics volumes three through five over the next two days and hopefully finish Every Heart A Doorway by Friday.
That is my plan for the rest of Bout of Books. I will have an update tomorrow to let you know how everything is going.
I will see you next time. Until then, happy reading!
I will admit, I am a bit scared and yet a bit excited. I have never hosted a challenge before.I am not sure what to expect. I realize that I have not even gotten a chance to try the challenge out. With my past experience in teaching, I know that is not a good idea. However, I do believe that the challenge is doable. I am really glad that I got some positive feedback about the challenge.
Throughout the course of my day, it has come to my attention that my day will be pretty packed. Between reading, working two jobs, and hosting this challenge, I decided that I needed to make a schedule, or least create a TBR
My TBR is very simple. I have picked some books that are either small or that I need to finish. I decided to not pick a large list of books, just because I do want to feel somewhat successful. So here is the TBR.
- Explorer The Mystery Boxes by Kazu Kibuishi – this is a graphic novel
- Explorer The Lost Island by Kazu Kibuishi – this is a graphic novel
- Explorer The Hidden Doors by Kazu Kibuishi – this is a graphic novel
- Finish Scarlet by Marissa Mayers
- Finish The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson
- Finish Uprooted by Naomi Novik
- This is Where it Ends by Marieke Nijkamp
- The List by Siobhan Vivian
My schedule is a little weird. My start time is at 5AM, but I do need some rest for work tomorrow. This is my general plan.
5:30 – 6:30 I will get ready for work
6:30 – 8:30 I plan on reading the three graphic novels and to finish Jekyll and Hyde.
9:00 to 2:00 I work
2:15 – 2:30 read some Scarlet
2:30 to 4:00 I will host the event. I need to do some preparations before I host the event
4:00 – 5:00 I will read – I plan on being able to finish Scarlet
5:00 – 6:00 Dinner
6:00 – 5AM Reading! I want to finish Uprooted and tackle This is Where it Ends and The List.
That is my general plan. Some of it might change. I do not know, but I am looking forward to the readathon. I cannot wait to see who will participate and I do hope to see you at the challenge. I will mainly be hosting the challenge on Facebook. See you in a few hours.
Alright. I decided that I would do a game plan on what I am planning on doing for the Cram-a-thon. I wanted to create a plan to succeed my goals for this weekend. I am taking this from my previous experiences with my last two Book-tube-a-thons. The one year that I succeed, I did a lot of planning and prepping while the one that I failed was due to the lack of prep and planning. Here is that plan.
Friday – I have work in the morning and I am also working at my local county fair as one of the vendors. I am planning on bringing the children books as well as the graphic novels. I want to get all the short stuff in one day. Thus completing the challenge of reading two books in one day. This will cover Oh the Places you’ll Go, Once Upon A Banana, Ms. Marvel Vol. 2, and Rat Queens Vol. 1.
Saturday. I will also be working on Saturday morning. However, I am hoping on getting my new glasses that day. In addition, I have a feeling that I mom will ask me to help around the house since there is a lot of prepping for the new washer and dryer. Though this day, I am planning on reading Around the World in 80 Days. I am hoping that this book will not take more than two hours to read.
Sunday – Will be the makeup day, to catch up with these books.
Monday – The backup day incase I am really behind.
In addition to all that reading, I am hoping to read 100 pages of Trouble each day. The book is 375 pages longs. Right now I am on page 90. I am hoping to get to page 100 by the end of tonight. However, I am discovering that this book is a little hard to get through. It is one of those books that you need to take your time and just read it. You cannot power through it. If I cannot get through 100 pages a day, I want to at least get through 75 pages. If I do 75 pages a day, it will take me the whole entire weekend to finish this book.
I also have the backup plan that I will split Friday’s plan into both Friday and Saturday and Move Saturday’s plan to Sunday and leave Monday as the backup day. However, I am really hoping that I will be able to keep up with this plan.
Wish me luck and happy reading!
