Day 3 Booktubeathon 2017

With all the extra time I had in reading, you would think that I got a lot of reading done. Sadly, I did not But I did get one book done and at least I did start an audio book for The Dark Prophecy this morning, so that is in the plus column.  In all, I finished Juniper Lemon’s Happiness Index and got about 90 pages into The Dark Prophecy.

So far I have completed three out of the eight challenges. I just finished reading the group book and I read a book with a person on the cover. So I am excited for slowly finishing these challenges and getting all my books read. If possible, I am hoping to get The Dark Prophecy finished by tomorrow.

I am not sure if that is going to work. I am losing an hour of reading, with the extra hour that is going into my camp, but I also decided to not participate in tomorrows challenge. I technical have a photo and an outfit that I could use for the challenge, but I do not want my identity known on my blog or Instagram account. So that might give me an extra hour. I am not sure. We will see how much reading I will complete in the day. I still want to post something crafty and fun for tomorrow on my Instagram account.

Though today’s challenge was a bit hard. We were to take a reflective image of our current read. I was happy with my work, but with all the other images that I saw for the challenge, I am not surprised that I lost. It was not as good as some of those other images. I do encourage you to check them out. Look it under the #btatreflect. I will place the image that I submitted down below.

But for now, I want to talk about my game plan for tomorrow. I am planning on immersing myself in the world of The Dark Prophecy. I do have the audio book, so I am planning on utilizing that audio book to help me get some more reading time. Hopefully, I will be able to get a few chapters done while I am getting ready for work. I am not sure about hearing the book and driving to work. Lately, I have been stuck on the same song for the past few days and I have not been getting any reading done in the car. My realistic goal is to get 3/4 of the way through the book. I only want 100 or so pages left to finish on Friday. If by some miracle I finish this book tomorrow, I do have The Girl Who Drank the Moon and Story Thieves. I might also take in 13 chairs. I am due for a short quick read. I am starting to feel that need for a quick pick me up.

So enough about me, I want to know about you. If you are participating, how is your adventuring going? Did you get a lot of books read? Have you enjoyed all the books that you have read so far? What challenges have you completed? Are you having fun?

I do hope that you are having fun and that you are enjoying all of your adventures. I will talk to you on Friday. Until then, happy reading!

Day 1 of Booktubeathon 2017

Alright… To tell you the truth the first day did not go as planned. I accidentally slept in and when I tried to listen to the book I was reading last night, I discovered I did not have the internet, which meant that I could not download the book onto my iPod. Which meant I was behind on my reading. I was hoping to finish Serafina and the Black Cloak on my way to work and start Juniper Lemon’s Happiness Index. I was even hoping to be almost done with that book today.

Sadly, that did not happen. I spent 30 minutes uploading pictures of my camp for work, ate lunch, then I actually spent the hour working on my Instagram challenge. I then spent about an hour reading, in which I was able to finish Serafina and the Black Cloak and start Juniper Lemon’s Happiness Index. About an hour later, I decided that I should get a bit more work done, so I decided to sort Lego. I did not continue reading or switched books at that time.

However, I can claim that I did finish one book (about 30 pages) and read about 94 pages in another. That is not bad. Not what I expected, but it was still good, and I still got some reading done.

In addition, my picture for the first challenge did not go as planned. The first Instagram challenge was to finish a book cover. I can tell you that I was not happy with it when I posted it, but I was running out of time, and I wanted to get back to reading. To stay on top of my schedule that I had set up for myself. I must say that I am grateful for all the likes. It made me realize that I did do a good job on the challenge. I was just being hard on myself. I know that it is not perfect, but it is decent and it does look like it can go with the rest of the book.

So what are my plans for tomorrow? I would like to finish Juniper Lemon’s Happiness Index.  I can easily do that while I am eating lunch and doing the Instagram challenge if I can get ahold of the audio book. Do the reading the books outside challenge. That can be completed after work and before I pick my sister up. I am also hoping to start either The Girl who Drank the Moon or The Dark Prophecy. I am hoping to get a bit more reading in tomorrow. This is funny since I have less time to read.

So wish me the best luck in my endeavors. I am also hoping the very best for yours.

If you are participating in this readathon let me know down below. How are you doing? Have you completed any challenges yet? And what is your game plan for tomorrow?

Until tomorrow. Happy reading!

Now it is off for those of us to save Ariel and Kristina from the Demon that has kidnapped them both on Twitter.

May Update 2017

I realize that it has been quite a while since I made a post. Part of the reason was that I did not feel like writing. I figured that if I didn’t feel it, that would show through my writing, and I wanted to write a quality post. The other issue that I had was a sprained wrist during the months of February and March. I ended up injuring my right wrist and didn’t realize how much I needed it to complete even the simplists of tasks since I am predominantly right handed. My main focus was trying to get work done, and complete the basic tasks that I needed to complete, like writing out reports and driving.  It really has changed my focus on how much I use this hand.

So even though I was not writing any posts, I was still reading, and I got a lot of reading done, during these pasts few months. I have counted and I believe that I have read a total of 30 books since the last time I made a post. That is not bad since I wanted to read 50 books this year. A lot of the book I have enjoyed, and there are very few that I did not enjoy.

I am planning on making some more posts. I do want to get the Owlcrate, Bookly Box, and Book of the Month posts up. I do realize that I am behind on those posts. I would also like to do a couple of reviews. I also wanted to do a post on my attempt on completing some May Instagram challenges. I will admit that it did not work out this month. but I am hoping to find some more challenges. I decided to just focus on one challenge next month, and add those to this blog. In addition, I would also like to complete some book tags that I would like to participate in.

Hopefully I will get all of this done today, and that I will be able to claim a very successful three day weekend. Until next time, happy reading!

Booktubeathon Wrap-up

For those of you who have participated, how was your booktubeathon? Mine actually went very well. I was able to complete all of the challenges and read a total of 9 books. Not half bad. The only books that I did not finish on my TBR were Uprooted and More Happy Than Not. I was even able to participate in all of the Instagram challenges and got a review in.

To give you an update on Sunday, I was not able to get as much reading as I thought I would get done. I tried to listen to Truth Witch, but I was not feeling it. In truth, I was just not into listening to another audiobook. In addition, the work that I did took longer than planned. I was there from 10AM to 8PM. Let me tell you that I am still sore and tired from doing the floors. However, I was able to get about another 20 pages done from Uprooted. But that was it. All I wanted to do, that evening, was to take a shower and sleep after my long day at work.

Other than that, I considered Booktubeathon 2016 to be a great success. I did all of the reading challenges and participated in both the Twitter and Instagram platforms. I had tons of fun, and I cannot wait for the December Booktubeathon.

I will post all the pictures that I have posted on Instagram and Twitter in a separate post. It will be one of the posts that I will make sure that I do not copy for Twitter since most of the pictures will be repeated on that social network. I will even give you reviews on the books that I have read during the week of Booktubeathon. I do hope that your week is going perfect and that you are enjoying all the adventures that life has to offer.

See you next time. Happy reading!

Booktubeathon 2016 Pictures

I spent a while thinking about how I was going to organize these photos. Originally I wanted to do it day by day, then I thought to separate between Instagram and Twitter. In the end, I am hoping that the day by day photos will work. So sit back, relax, and enjoy these photos.

Day One

Okay, the Instagram challenge for day one was to take a photo of a book in a landscape that matches the story. I chose to do I am Princess X at a table with some coffee and a notebook for some notes. I have both the original and the one that I posted on the Instagram side by side for your viewing.

IMG_2303 Okay, I took this picture because of a book sprint to show what book I was reading during that book sprint.

IMG_2316 The final picture of the day was to show what book I would be reading that evening along with what I will be drinking to stay awake. I told the land of Twitter that I would drink either Hot Chocolate or something else to help me stay awake all night long.

Day Two

Again, another side by side shoot for what I decided to do for the Day two Instagram challenge. On Day two, we can to create a rainbow stack of book. I chose to make a rainbow. However, if you do have Instagram I do encourage you to see the winner of this challenge, it is amazing. Though I can tell you that this was a hard project and I was a bit upset that I did not win. Getting those books to balance on each other were not easy. I could also kick myself for the filter that I chose for this challenge. On one hand, it did make all the colors match from one side to the next, but it sadly made the red book look pink. Uhggg!

The next photo was to post a photo of our TBR for booktubeathon on Twitter with the #AlmostBookstagram. I must say that it was a bit hard. I took several photos and felt as though none of them would be worthy for Instagram (though it was only my second day using Instagram as Super Book Worm.) Again you can see the different photos that I have made, with the final product on the bottom.  I will admit that the lighting in my room is not the best for photos, even at 8AM in the morning.

I even took a photo of me working and listening to my book at the same time. Yes, I did get at least two hours of reading done! God, I love my job. I was helping my boss purge some folders during our down time.

The final photo that I took was for Twitter. The challenge was to take a photo of your bookmark. I was borrowing a ruler from work and decided to use it as a bookmark for one of the books that I was reading. It did the job, and the Bookmark.. the ruler, is now back to where it belongs.

Day Three

Day three challenge for Instagram was to take a picture of your favorite book quote. I did not know what to pick so I chose to use on of the books that I was reading for the Booktubeathon. I do love the quote and found it hopeful and necessary with what is happening in our world today. Let it be a reminder that we should all be “hope spreaders.”

Day Four

The Instagram challenge for this day was to take a picture of your snack and the book that you are reading. I ended up taking a picture of my breakfast. That day was a little bit crazy and I was not sure if I would be able to get in a good snack photo at the time.

I also decided to share a little fun quote while I was reading the Hidden Oracle. You got to love Percy. I was just dying of laughing as well as agreeing with him when he made the statement “But the list never seems to end.” I also included some other fun parts of the book that I thought were enjoyable.

In addition, I also took a picture of my delicious lunch. I had a hamburger in a tortilla bread with some hashbrowns. It was really good.

Finally, I also was giving a book rating to a book that I was reading on Twitter.

Day Five

The challenge for Instagram on day five was to take a photo of your favorite classic. I was so upset that I forgot to go to the library to get The Chess Garden, but it worked out that I was able to grab my next favorite, A Wrinkle in Time. I was trying to recreate what Meg’s desk would look like. This was another one of those photos that grew and changed the more I thought about it. The end product that I turned in is on the bottom. I am actually proud of how the photo came out. I need my glasses to see. So a clear photo is a blessing.

IMG_2399[1]  IMG_2390

The next photo I am not sure. I believe it was for Twitter I believe it was to show people what I was reading. I know that I did switch from More Happy Than Not to Sorta Like a Rock Star. So I believe that I gave a rating to More Happy Than Not then I moved onto Sorta Like a Rock Star. Why the photos are out of order are beyond me.

Day Six

The Instagram challenge for day six was to take a picture of a second-hand book or a book given to you. I chose a book that was given to me by my grandmother. She claimed that she did not like the book because it had too much fantasy. I thought I would not like the book because it would have too much romance. I am glad that I have read this book. It is one of my favorite yearly reads.

The next picture was for Twitter. It was for a book recommendation. I chose to recommend The Unwanteds. I enjoyed the book and thought others would too.

After that, another contest was for some pretty covers. Then for some books that we would love to read. a future TBR you could say.

I also took some photos that were not in some contests, but just for fun. The first one was showing that I was watching Legally Blond and reading Uprooted. After that, I took a picture of what I was reading. The twitter sprint at the time was a lot of fun, and we were focusing on ghosts, and I was showing that I was reading about a place that had a lot of death. That twitter sprint was a lot of fun.

Day Seven

The last day, I was not able to participate with booktubeathon as much as I would like. That was the day that I ended up working for 8 hours. Though I did get in the Instagram photo. That challenge was to take a picture of a book outside. Not very creative, but I wanted to get that seventh challenge done and I only had an hour left.

That is all the photos that I took for the Booktubeathon. Let me know what you think. I do hope that you enjoyed getting to see the original as well as the filtered/ edited copy. They were a lot of fun to take. See you next time.

Happy reading!
