Okay. I know that I did a review for day six, but I still had plans to continue reading that day. I realize now that I should have waited until today to talk about yesterday, but there is nothing that I can do about that now.
Day six was not that bad. I spent most of the day either working or helping my mom and dad. It was not until 4:00 in the afternoon was I able to start reading. When I wrote about the previous days, I was still thinking about reading more of Thirteen, and I did. More than the 20 pages that I planned. I believe I read about 40 to 50 pages. The book is getting to be really good and intense. In one instance I am having a hard time putting to down, and in another, I am having a hard time continuing because of everything that is happening.
In the end, I really thought that my reading went very well for the day. I will talk to you tomorrow with my wrap-up with this readathon. See you next time. Happy reading!
Alright, the last few days have been hectic. On Thursday my Grandma got sent to the hospital via ambulance due to a high fever. She is doing fine now, but we have been given the notice that she has about two more months to live. That news has not set in yet, due to the fact that I have been trying to balance taking care of my sister, my mom, and helping my mom around the house.
In all that has happened, Thursday was a good day for reading. I was able to finish P.S. I Like You, and I also read It’s Halloween. I have then proceeded to start and continue to read Thirteen on Friday. I am only 74 pages into the book. It is not an easy read. It is definitely an intense thriller book. I am not sure how to word it, but it is not something that you can breeze through.
In the process of the past few days, I was not able to participate in any of the challenges. Thursday’s challenge was to create a tabloid headline with a book that you are currently reading or a book that you have read. At the time I was not sure what I was going to say or which book I was going to pick, and I still don’t know what to do with this challenge. Everything that I came up with sounds dumb. The best one that I can come up with is :”Thirteen-year-old is in danger of death by crazy millennium cult!”
Friday’s challenge was fun, and I did have a response to it but was not able to get to a computer at all that day. The challenge was to connect a book with a song. Which is interesting because I sometimes naturally do that. For example Face the Fire, the song that I have stuck in my head for it is Lady Gaga’s Judas. Somehow I was reading that book and listening to the Just Born This Way album and the song seemed to fit so much that I am not able to let it go. Judas does fit this song perfectly if you have read this book.
So those have been my last few days. I am hoping to get another 20 pages done with Thirteen before the end of tonight. Then make some more posts for this week. See you next time, and happy reading.
Alright, time to look at how much reading I have done today. Today was a bit different. I feel like I got a lot more reading done today. I am not finished with P.S. I Like You, but today feels different. It probably because there were Twitter posts about just enjoying reading the books that you are reading, and not to worry about the book count. These are the type of statements that I needed to hear. It is making me happier and so much more relieved. I most likely only read 100 pages. As for tomorrow, we will see what I feel like reading. I am most likely sure that I will finish P.S. I Like You tomorrow since I cannot put it down. I am also hoping to start and finish Saga Volume 5. I am not sure what will happen tomorrow.
Now it is time for today’s challenge. Today’s fun challenge was to take a photo of your bookshelf. I hope you enjoy the view. It is not all of my books. Some of my books are at other locations and I have yet to have the time to clean it up. As you can tell, I never finished my Modge Podge project. It still looks good.
I better get going. I need to get ready for work tomorrow. To be honest, I am hoping that I will be responsible enough to get to bed so that I will be awake for tomorrow. I will let you know tomorrow how that turned out. Until next time, happy reading!
Alright… Let me be real here, I did not get a lot of reading done today. Let’s just say that today was not a good day in general. As much as I want to read An Ember in the Ashes, I just am not in the mood to listen to it. On top of that, I did not get one book done, but I did get to read about 80 pages today in P.S. I Like you. No matter how much I try, I just want to read that book. That is all I am thinking about. I just love the main character.
That is the sad patheticness of my life. Only 80 pages read. I did get to help my sister get ready for school after she slept in, freeze two credit cards, went to the college to help my one on one participate in a walking class, get her signed up, freed my keys from my locked car, and now I am writing this post. So far the highlights of my day have been writing this post and reading.
Now, let’s get onto the challenge. Today’s challenge is to look at books to movies adaptations. This was done by Writing My Own Fairytale. The challenge is to share both our favorite and least favorite book to movie adaptation. We could explain if we want to, but it is not necessary.
My favorite book to movie adaptation is The Book Theif. I loved this book, and the movie is no different. The movie was beautifully well done and honored the time period as well as the book, even through their differences.
My least favorite book to movie adaptation will have to be Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters. I do not know where to begin. Maybe those who have read the book and seen the movie can help me out. I was not happy with the movie.
So that my friends is day one. I do hope that tomorrow will be better. I have decided to change my plans and to try to read the Saga series between job one and job two. Maybe even fit some more of P.S. I Like You while I am at work. I am also hoping that I will get be able to start my audio book to tomorrow.
If you are participating, how is your reading? Are you keeping up? Are you having fun? I do hope that you are having some fun. I will see you tomorrow. Happy reading!
Okay. I am so stoked to get this party started. Next week is the Bout of Books Readathon (August 22 to 28th). I am not sure how I am going to do since I will be balancing multiple jobs next week, but I would like to get a least a few books read.
If you want to sign up, it is easy. Just go to their site http://boutofbooks.blogspot.com/, and fill out a form on the bottom. You will also need to make a post on either your blog, twitter, or some other social media source to tell the world that you are participating. It is super simple. There are also some great contest for you to participate in along the way.
The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, August 22nd and runs through Sunday, August 28th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 17 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. – From the Bout of Books team
So here are the books that I am planning on reading for Bout of Books
- Saga Vol. 4
- Saga Vol. 5
- The Vampire Christopher
- Blood Soaked Promises
- P.S. I Like You
- Ember in the Ashes
I feel as though that is a bit ambitious. However, I picked many quick short books. I also picked an audiobook so that I can maximize the time that I spent reading. I have about 16 hours to read from Monday to Saturday. I have most of the day Sunday to read, as you can see with the schedule below.
My plans are to read the graphic novels on Monday and Tuesday. Both of those library books are due on Wednesday. After that, it is more along the lines of what I feel like reading, but I feel as though I would get more done if I focus on the short stories on Wednesday and Thursday ( The Vampire Christopher and Blood Soaked Promises). Ember in the Ashes is my audio book that I will listen to while I am getting ready and traveling to work. I am hoping that I will be able to finish this 15.5-hour book within this week. I am planning on reading P.S. I Like You on both Friday and Saturday. Sunday will be my catch up day if I fall behind.
That is my TBR and plans for Bout-of-Books 17. What are your plans? Are you planning on participating in Bout-of-Books 17? There is still time to sign up if you want to participate. It is a lot of fun and I am looking forward to my week of craziness.
I will talk to you soon. Happy reading!
