Dewey’s Readathon Books review

I am feeling productive and decided to get some reviews done. Unlike my other reviews, this will be a short review on each of the books that I have read during the Dewey’s 24-hour readathon.

1. Ever After High: Madeline Hatter’s Story by Shannon Hale – This is one of many prequels to the Ever After High series by Shannon Hale. This prequel follows Madeline and what her home life is like before school starts. I gave this book four out of five stars on Goodreads. I enjoyed the quick read and getting a chance to see into this fairy tale world. It has made me interested into the series. I am on the fence for recommending these prequels to the world, but if you like fairy tales, then yes, you will love to see into this world and getting a chance to meet the characters of the novel.
2. Ever After High: Hunter Huntsman’s Story by Shannon Hale – This is one of many prequels to the Ever After High series by Shannon Hale. This story followers Hunter, one of the huntsmen our fairy tale world. I also gave this book four out of five stars on Goodreads. I enjoyed the short intro into this character and his home life. It really made me want to read the series. This is one of the prequels I will recommend because I enjoyed the take of thinking about the possibility of something else.
3. Ever After High: Ashlynn Ella’s Story by Shannon Hale – This is another prequel to the Ever After Series. I gave this novella four out of five stars on Goodreads. I enjoyed the idea of wanting to go outside the story and feeling trapped. I must say this novella also made me want to read the series. I do recommend this to everyone.
4. Ever After High: Briar Beauty Story by Shannon Hale – Another prequel to the Ever After Series in which I gave four out of five stars on Goodreads. As much as I enjoyed the novella, the character seemed a little vain. As for recommending the novella, I will go along the line with the Madeline Hatter Story. If you like fairy tales, then you will like this novella
5. Ever After High: Apple White’s Story by Shannon Hale – One of the other prequels to the Ever After series in which I gave the novella three out of five stars on Goodreads. Don’t get me wrong, the novella was okay, but this princess was extremely conceded and vain to the point that I was annoyed with her. All she cared about was her happily ever after. This book made me think twice as to whether or not I truly wanted to read the series.
6. Ever After High: Raven Queen’s Story by Shannon Hale – Finally, the last prequel that I read to the Ever After Series. I gave this novella four out of five stars on Goodreads. Not one of the best novellas, but much better than White’s story. I enjoyed see Raven and this is your introduction to the possible plot to the series. I do recommend this novella to everyone, especially if you want to read the Ever After Series.
7. Henry Burp – Mind your Manners by Mike Winn – This is a book about a child learning how to “control” his manners. Lets just say that I gave this book one out of five stars on Goodreads. I just felt rude by laughing as I read this children’s book. I felt it was nothing special and the writing was poor. There are other books that are better than this one that give the same message to children.
8. Mett Digger Mole by Alan Scouse – This book is about meeting a Mole and his family. I also gave this book one out of five stars on Goodreads. The writing was horrible. It was choppy and lacked a plot. I felt like I was reading one of those created books from reading programs for Kindergarten/ 1st grade. Just plain boring. I am glad that I got this book for free because I would be upset if I wasted any amount of money on it.
9. A Nutty Day in the Rain by Jennifer Rowlands – This book focused on a little squirrel and his desire to make his rainy day fun and exciting. I gave this book four out of five stars on Goodreads.  The story was cute and adorable and something I would love to share with the kids that I work with, as well as with everyone. The only problem that I had with this book was the lack of pictures. It really did need some pictures to help bring the text to life, and to bring a bit more fun.
10. The Witch’s Big Night by Sally Huss – Set to the poem ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas, this book focus on the fun of Halloween, while promoting being kind to others. I gave this book four out of five stars. I enjoyed the this book. It was fun, and the artwork was not that bad. However, the rhyming scheme did not work out for all of the pages. In the end, I would recommend this book to everyone, since I cannot wait to share this book with the students that I work with.
